Methodology
How the benchmarks are built
Where the data comes from, what each metric means, and how to read the ranges.
Data sources
- Global data: December 2025 to March 2026. Linkrunner, Mobile App Growth Benchmark Report 2026.
- India data: apps from India-based companies, measured cumulatively to mid-2026. CPI covers apps that ran paid acquisition. Linkrunner, State of Mobile App Growth: India Startups 2026.
Both datasets are first-party attribution data from the Linkrunner platform. All app-level data is anonymised and aggregated; no individual app can be identified.
Definitions
- Organic install: not matched to a paid ad network touchpoint within the default 7-day click-through window.
- Paid install: matched to a specific paid campaign through deterministic attribution.
- Install to signup rate: signups divided by installs, for apps that track a signup event.
- CPI: ad spend divided by paid installs, in rupees, for apps running paid acquisition.
Medians and ranges
Every category figure is the median app, so one very large app can't distort the result. Ranges show the middle 50% of apps (the lower to upper quartile). Categories with smaller samples are marked as directional.
